The Ethiopian Church Forest Academy will be a 10-day residential, experiential learning journey, hosted by EOC-DICAC. The course will be delivered by an inter-disciplinary faculty drawn from EOTC, EOC-DICAC, OikoDiplomatique, the Global Land Alliance (formerly CIFOR-ICRAF), Norwegian Church Aid and World Vision, and other renowned authorities in the sector.
It will involve:
– Core readings and some introductory videos which participants study prior to the commencement of the course.
– Scene-setting and introductory lectures by the Course Faculty.
– Small group break-out exercises and feedback to the larger group discussion
– Case-study presentations by the participants to their peers; peer-to-peer learning and sharing of experience from different countries and contexts.
– Guided field visits to diverse church forests in several regions of Ethiopia; in-depth discussion with religious leaders, community leaders and farmers in each of the locations guided by EOC-DICAC.
– Short assignments, which form the basis of peer review and further discussions.
– Review of field learning with the Course Faculty, including facilitated group discussions, during which participants can share experiences and perspectives on material covered.
– Generation of a shared Call to Action and Action Plans contextualised to local situations.
